Automation & AI Engineer
Location: UK-wide hybrid – approximately two days per week at your nearest office
Salary: Up to £65,000
Contract: Permanent
Nigel Frank is working with a growing UK organisation to recruit an AI & Automation Engineer for its established Data, Innovation and Delivery function.
This is an opportunity to help shape how AI and automation are used across the business. You’ll develop practical solutions that improve day-to-day operations, automate processes and enable teams to work more effectively.
The role has a stronger focus on AI and intelligent automation than a traditional Power Platform position. You’ll work with tools including Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Studio, Power Automate, Microsoft 365 Copilot and monday.com, while exploring the use of large and smaller language models for specific business tasks.
You don’t need to be a highly specialised machine-learning engineer. The business is looking for someone who understands how AI can solve practical problems, has hands-on automation experience and is excited to develop their expertise further.
What you’ll be doing
- Designing and delivering AI-powered automations that solve genuine business problems.
- Building solutions using Copilot Studio, Power Automate, Microsoft 365 Copilot and related technologies.
- Exploring the use of LLMs and task-specific AI models across larger business datasets.
- Improving automation across monday.com, which is used for project, team, work and resource management.
- Developing integrations between monday.com, Microsoft technologies and other business systems.
- Supporting existing solutions through BAU, operational improvements and ongoing maintenance.
- Working with stakeholders to understand the full scope of a problem rather than simply building what has initially been requested.
- Assessing whether AI, automation, Power Platform or another approach is best suited to each requirement.
- Working independently while collaborating with specialists across data, reporting, engineering, governance and project delivery.
- Following appropriate security, governance and responsible-AI principles.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
