Role Description

The role will require experience upgrading applications in various technologies in both Windows and Linux based systems in other large-scale organisations. Also has extensive knowledge in building the automation to enable streamline application and infrastructure upgrade.

The role involves interaction with both application and infrastructure colleagues across the client so a clear and appropriate communication style is important to ensure customer satisfaction for the services delivered.

They must adhere to the organisation’s policies, standards and guidelines when undertaking their work, planning, managing, and prioritising their workload as required. They will contribute to the wider function and clients goals, targets and objectives, ensuring that IT security activities comply with the clients risk appetite and risk management framework.

Responsibility

  • Plan, coordinate and deliver application upgrades, migrations and platform refresh activities.
  • Ensure applications remain compliant with vendor support and security requirements.
  • Administer applications deployed on Windows and Linux environments.
  • Troubleshoot application, middleware and infrastructure issues.
  • Maintain operational documentation and runbooks.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual operational processes.
  • Develop automation using PowerShell, Bash, Python, Ansible or similar tools.
  • Build CI/CD deployment pipelines.
  • Promote Infrastructure as Code and DevOps best practices. These automation capabilities are consistent with internal engineering roles that reference PowerShell, Bash, Python and configuration management tooling.

Minimum (Essential) Criteria

  • Strong experience administering enterprise applications on both Windows and Linux.
  • Experience delivering applications and platform upgrades in production environments.
  • Experience with scripting and automation using PowerShell, Bash, Python or similar tools.
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible.
  • Experience with application servers, middleware and databases.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience integrating Artifactory, Xray and SonarQube into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with application release management, dependency management and repository governance.
  • Experience designing, implementing and maintaining GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines.
  • Monitoring and observability tools.
