Overview
We are seeking a senior Automation Architect to lead the design, implementation, and evolution of enterprise-scale automation solutions for a strategic transformation programme.
This is a highly hands-on technical role requiring an individual who can define automation strategy and standards while actively designing, building, and reviewing automation frameworks and code. The successful candidate will serve as the technical authority for automation architecture, engineering best practices, and framework adoption across multiple teams.
We are specifically looking for an architect with deep expertise in Playwright and TypeScript, a proven track record of building automation frameworks from scratch, and the ability to mentor engineers while driving automation maturity at scale.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Strategy
- Define the overall automation architecture and technical roadmap.
- Establish automation standards, tooling, governance, and engineering best practices.
- Design scalable, maintainable, and reusable automation frameworks.
- Drive framework adoption and consistency across teams.
- Evaluate emerging automation technologies and approaches.
Hands-On Development
- Design and build enterprise-grade automation frameworks.
- Contribute production-quality automation code and perform code reviews.
- Develop reusable libraries, accelerators, and framework components.
- Support CI/CD integration and automation execution strategies.
- Troubleshoot complex framework and automation challenges.

Leadership & Mentoring
- Provide technical leadership across automation initiatives.
- Mentor engineers and promote engineering excellence.
- Define quality standards and automation operating principles.
- Guide teams on framework design, implementation patterns, and best practices.
- Act as the senior escalation point for automation-related decisions.
Required Experience
Essential
- Significant experience as an Automation Architect, Principal Automation Engineer, Lead SDET, or equivalent.
- Deep hands-on experience with Playwright.
- Strong TypeScript development skills with the ability to actively code and review code.
- Experience architecting and building automation frameworks from scratch.
- Proven ability to define automation strategy, standards, and tooling.
- Experience delivering enterprise-scale QA automation solutions.
- Strong knowledge of UI, API, and end-to-end test automation.
- Experience integrating automation frameworks into CI/CD pipelines.
- Ability to work independently and make key technical decisions with minimal oversight.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred
- Experience with Python automation frameworks and tooling.
- Experience leading automation transformation initiatives.
- Background working within regulated or large enterprise environments.
- Experience mentoring and developing automation engineering teams.
Nice to Have
- Exposure to Model Context Protocol (MCP) or AI-assisted automation tooling.
- Experience building internal automation accelerators or frameworks similar to QA Boost.
- Financial Services, Banking, Treasury, or Capital Markets experience.
- Experience evaluating agentic AI and next-generation automation approaches.
- Exposure to Tosca or other commercial automation platforms.
