Automation Developer (Python & Ansible)
Certain Advantage is hiring for a Automation Developer based in London.
This role is on an initial contract basis till the end of the year and is hybrid, with employees required to be onsite 3 days per week. (High potential for an extension)
The Role
This role is for a dynamic Network Automation Developer—someone ambitious and ready to make an impact. You'll be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the automation ecosystem that supports critical connectivity and infrastructure services across the organisation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and maintaining end-to-end automation pipelines using GitHub Actions, Terraform/OpenTofu, and Ansible Automation Platform.
- Managing the lifecycle of automation tooling, including implementation, upgrades, optimisation, and retirement of legacy systems.
- Providing operational support, monitoring, troubleshooting, and break/fix activities across the automation estate.
- Developing Infrastructure-as-Code solutions to support scalable and repeatable deployments.
- Building and maintaining Ansible playbooks and automation frameworks for orchestration and configuration management.
- Implementing security best practices across automation platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure deployments.
- Integrating automation platforms with enterprise systems using APIs, webhooks, and event-driven workflows.
- Creating reusable templates, frameworks, and standards to improve automation consistency across teams.
- Producing technical documentation, operational procedures, and automation standards.
- Providing technical guidance and support to teams adopting automation capabilities.

The Individual
- Strong hands-on experience with CI/CD platforms, ideally GitHub Actions and self-hosted runners.
- Proven experience developing Infrastructure-as-Code solutions using Terraform or OpenTofu.
- Expertise with Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) and/or AWX, including playbook development and orchestration design.
- Strong programming and scripting skills in Python and Bash.
- Experience operating and supporting automation platforms within production environments.
- Solid understanding of automation and CI/CD security best practices, including RBAC, secrets management, and pipeline hardening.
- Experience integrating systems using REST APIs and event-driven architectures.
- Familiarity with Azure cloud services and cloud-native automation approaches.
