Automation Assurance Specialist

📍 London / Manchester / Glasgow (Remote hybrid, travel can vary from none at all to once a fortnight)

We are currently supporting a leading global consulting and technology organisation in hiring an Automation Assurance Specialist to join their growing digital engineering practice. This role will focus on ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of complex technical solutions delivered to major clients.

You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams of engineers, designers, and delivery specialists to validate that systems meet both functional and non-functional requirements.

The position offers the opportunity to work across a range of large-scale digital transformation projects using modern technologies including NodeJS, Java, Kotlin, Spring Boot, RESTful microservices, and NoSQL databases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain robust automated test frameworks
  • Integrate testing into continuous integration and deployment pipelines
  • Perform testing across multiple areas including:
    • Functional validation
    • Integration testing
    • Accessibility testing
    • Performance testing
    • Security testing
  • Collaborate with engineering and design teams to ensure high-quality technical delivery
  • Contribute to the development of scalable, reliable digital services
  • Identify opportunities to improve testing practices, tools, and processes
  • Share expertise with team members and support the growth of engineering capabilities
  • Contribute to internal initiatives, innovation programmes, and knowledge sharing

Required Experience

  • ISTQB Foundation certification (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience with testing approaches including:
    • Exploratory testing
    • Integration testing
    • Manual testing
    • Functional testing
  • Experience building or contributing to automation frameworks using Java or JavaScript
  • Hands-on experience with automation tools such as:
    • Selenium
    • Playwright
    • Cucumber
    • REST API testing
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments
  • Familiarity with version control platforms such as GitHub or GitLab
  • Ability to work independently and proactively identify areas for improvement

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with additional testing disciplines such as Accessibility, Performance, or Security
  • Exposure to evaluating outputs from AI systems using structured evaluation techniques
  • Experience using Docker to support testing environments
  • Experience running automated tests with Maven
  • Familiarity with CI/CD platforms such as GitHub, GitLab, or Jenkins
  • Knowledge of web accessibility standards and automation best practices
  • Familiarity with the GOV.UK Design System
