About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Engineer to join our team at Amazon TA. In this role, you will be instrumental in maintaining and improving our automated systems that underpin our logistics operations. Your expertise will ensure that our material handling equipment, conveyor systems, and sortation machinery operate seamlessly, supporting our mission to deliver orders efficiently and reliably. You will work closely with cross-functional teams across multiple sites within the EU Controls network, utilizing your technical knowledge to troubleshoot issues, implement improvements, and support the installation of new equipment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of Amazon’s emerging automation technology, solving complex productivity challenges and contributing to operational excellence.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience with PLC-controlled automation and troubleshooting in a continuous process or production environment.
  • Hands-on experience with PLC automation tools such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Codesys.
  • Familiarity with material handling, flow visualization, and capacity monitoring systems.
  • Proficiency with automation and visualization platforms like Ignition SCADA, Human Machine Interface (HMI), or similar.
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols including EthernetIP, Profinet, Profibus, and fieldbus networks.
  • Experience working with VFDs, safety gateways, input/output devices, and associated electrical components.
  • Strong command of verbal and written English, with proficiency in the local language where applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and repair critical automation systems to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
  • Collaborate with the EU Controls network to analyze MHE metrics, identify issues, and implement corrective actions.
  • Create and deliver data visualizations to internal stakeholders to facilitate effective troubleshooting and decision-making.
  • Lead or participate in continuous improvement projects aimed at enhancing automation processes and equipment reliability.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of systems, including mechanical and electrical drawings, and ensure backup libraries are current and accurate.
  • Assist in the installation, commissioning, and testing of new automation equipment across multiple sites within the EU network.
  • Support other sites within the EU Controls network as needed to ensure consistency and operational efficiency.
  • Interpret mechanical and electrical schematics, develop strategies for code improvements, and ensure compliance with IEC 61131-3 standards.
  • Train and mentor engineering technicians on troubleshooting techniques, preventative maintenance, and control system operations.
