About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Engineer to join our team at Amazon TA. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance of our automated systems across various sites. Your expertise will help maintain the efficiency and reliability of our material handling equipment, conveyors, and sortation systems, directly impacting our ability to deliver orders on time to customers globally. This role offers a unique opportunity to work with emerging technologies, analyze complex data, and participate in continuous improvement initiatives that drive operational excellence. You will collaborate with international teams, support equipment installation and commissioning, and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime. Your technical proficiency and problem-solving skills will be instrumental in maintaining the integrity of our automation infrastructure.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background with relevant experience in automation systems, particularly PLC-controlled environments. Proficiency in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving issues related to material handling and automation equipment is essential. Candidates should have hands-on experience with tools such as Microsoft Office, project management software, and EPLAN. Knowledge of Ladder Logic programming from Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Codesys PLCs, as well as familiarity with SCADA platforms like Ignition and HMI systems, is required. A solid understanding of industrial communication protocols such as EthernetIP, Profinet, Profibus, and fieldbus networks is also necessary. Excellent communication skills in English and the local language are vital for effective collaboration with global teams.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and repair issues with key automation systems to ensure continuous operation and minimal downtime.
  • Collaborate with the EU Controls network to analyze Material Handling Equipment (MHE) metrics and optimize system performance.
  • Develop and provide data visualizations of troubleshooting processes and system diagnostics to internal stakeholders for informed decision-making.
  • Lead or actively participate in continuous improvement projects aimed at enhancing automation efficiency and reliability across sites.
  • Ensure all automation systems are properly documented, maintaining accurate backup libraries and technical records.
  • Coordinate with global colleagues to install, commission, and validate new automation equipment and systems.
  • Support other sites within the EU Controls network as needed, sharing expertise and troubleshooting support.
  • Interpret mechanical and electrical drawings to develop strategies for system improvements and code compliance with IEC 61131-3 standards.
  • Train and mentor Engineering Technicians on device troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and control systems management.
