About The Role
Rise10 Recruitment is exclusively partnering with a well-established engineering organization to recruit an experienced Software Automation Engineer. This is an exciting opportunity to join a business that designs and delivers highly engineered automation and motion control systems for customers operating within safety-critical industries. Working on technically challenging, bespoke projects, you'll play a key role in developing software that controls complex machinery used across a variety of sectors. The role offers a chance to work in a dynamic environment where innovation and precision are paramount, contributing to the development of automation solutions that enhance safety, efficiency, and productivity.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a solid educational background in engineering or a related field, with relevant industry certifications and experience. A minimum of an HND or Degree qualification in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Automation, or a comparable discipline is required. Candidates should demonstrate proven experience in developing PLC-based automation software, with familiarity in programming languages such as Structured Text and Ladder Logic. Strong knowledge of Allen Bradley PLCs and Rockwell Automation software, including Studio 5000, Logix Designer, FactoryTalk View, View Designer, and RSView SCADA, is essential. Additional certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+ are considered advantageous, along with experience in developing automation software for cranes, lifting equipment, or other heavy industrial machinery.

Responsibilities
- Design and develop PLC and HMI software for industrial automation systems, ensuring functionality aligns with project specifications and safety standards.
- Produce comprehensive technical documentation, including Functional Design Specifications, User Requirements, and Cause & Effect diagrams, to facilitate project clarity and future maintenance.
- Develop robust, scalable automation software utilizing Structured Text and Ladder Logic programming languages, adhering to industry best practices.
- Design and implement machine network architectures and industrial communication systems to ensure reliable data exchange and system integration.
- Integrate software with electrical hardware components, motion control systems, and distributed I/O modules to achieve seamless operation.
- Conduct thorough testing, debugging, and optimization of automation software to ensure high performance and reliability.
- Oversee system commissioning both in-house and at customer sites, ensuring systems are operational, safe, and meet all project requirements.
- Support fault diagnosis, implement software improvements, and contribute to ongoing product development initiatives to enhance system capabilities and safety.
- Ensure all automation systems comply with relevant functional safety standards and adhere to engineering best practices.
- Collaborate closely with Mechanical, Electrical, and Commissioning Engineers to deliver integrated, successful projects within scheduled timelines and budgets.
