Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced PLC & Drives Engineer with expertise in Siemens automation systems to join our dynamic engineering team.
As an Automation Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of PLC & Drive systems, primarily utilizing Siemens and Bosch platforms.
You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful execution of projects aimed at enhancing industrial automation processes and efficiency.
Responsibilities

PLC System Design and Programming:
- Develop and implement PLC & Motion programs using Siemens platforms (e.g., SIMATIC S7-1500, TIA Portal) based on project requirements and specifications.
- Design and configure Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs) for operator interaction and system monitoring.

System Integration and Troubleshooting:
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and controls engineering teams to integrate PLC systems into larger automation and motion control setups.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to programming, communication, and hardware components.
- Work with our new partners in Drive Train & Robotics to provide integrated systems.

Project Management:
- Contribute to the planning and execution of automation projects, ensuring timely completion within budget and quality parameters.
- Participate in project meetings, providing technical insights and progress updates.

Testing and Validation:
- Conduct thorough testing and validation of PLC systems to ensure functionality, reliability, and safety.
- Develop and execute test plans, documenting results and recommending improvements.

Documentation and Training:
- Create detailed technical documentation, including functional specifications, user manuals, and maintenance procedures.
- Provide training and support to maintenance and operational teams regarding PLC systems and troubleshooting.

Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in Siemens PLC technologies, recommending enhancements to existing systems.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and automation, contributing to overall operational efficiency.
Requirements

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation and/or robotics.
- Proven track record of 3+ years in PLC programming, preferably with strong expertise in Siemens automation and motion control systems.

Siemens PLC Expertise:
- Proficiency in programming Siemens PLCs using tools such as SIMATIC S7-1500 and TIA Portal.
- Experience with configuring and programming HMIs using Siemens WinCC.

- Solid understanding of industrial automation principles, control systems, and industrial communication protocols (e.g., Profibus, Profinet).

Location
Working at home and around the UK, traveling from your home address, with regular requirement to attend the offices in the North West
