About The Role
The Operations landscape at Amazon TA is fundamentally driven by automation and technological innovation. As an Automation Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation of automated systems across our facilities. Your primary responsibility will be to monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain critical control systems that manage material handling equipment, conveyors, and sortation systems. You will work closely with the EU Controls network to analyze data, identify issues, and implement solutions that maximize equipment availability and operational efficiency. This role offers a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of Amazon's emerging technologies, addressing complex productivity challenges through data-driven insights and continuous improvement initiatives. You will collaborate with global teams to install, commission, and optimize new automation equipment, contributing significantly to our operational excellence and customer satisfaction goals.

Qualifications
To succeed in this role, candidates should possess relevant technical experience and a strong foundation in automation systems. Essential qualifications include hands-on experience with PLC-controlled automation and troubleshooting in a continuous process or production environment. Proficiency in interpreting mechanical and electrical drawings, along with experience in developing improvement strategies conforming to IEC 61131-3 standards, is required. Candidates should have familiarity with tools such as Microsoft Office, project management software, EPLAN, Ladder Logic programming from Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Codesys PLCs, and SCADA platforms like Ignition. Knowledge of fieldbus networks such as EthernetIP, Profinet, Profibus, and AS-i, as well as experience with VFDs, safety gateways, and I/O devices, is also essential. Advanced proficiency in English, both verbal and written, along with local language skills, is necessary for effective communication within diverse teams.
Responsibilities
- Monitoring and diagnosing issues with automated systems, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance
- Troubleshooting and repairing control systems
- Working with the EU Controls network to analyze MHE metrics and generate data visualizations for internal stakeholders
- Leading or participating in continuous improvement projects aimed at enhancing system reliability and efficiency
- Documentation of all systems, maintaining accurate backup libraries, and collaborating with various departments to ensure proper system documentation
- Supporting the installation and commissioning of new equipment across different sites within the EU Controls network, providing technical expertise and guidance
- Interpreting mechanical and electrical drawings to develop and implement improvement strategies, ensuring compliance with safety and industry standards
- Sharing your technical knowledge with engineering technicians and training them on troubleshooting and preventative maintenance for team development and operational stability
