Automation Engineer – Power Platform & AI
Location: UK-wide hybrid – approximately two days per week at your nearest office
Salary: Up to £65,000
Contract: Permanent
Nigel Frank is working with a growing UK organisation to recruit an Automation Engineer with strong Microsoft Power Platform experience and an interest in developing further into AI-enabled automation.
This is a hands-on role focused primarily on designing and delivering business process automation using Power Automate and Power Apps. You’ll work with stakeholders across the organisation to identify opportunities, improve inefficient processes and build secure, maintainable solutions that deliver genuine business value.
You’ll also have the opportunity to develop your experience across Copilot Studio, Microsoft 365 Copilot, prompt engineering and other AI-enabled technologies. You do not need to be an established AI Engineer or have deep experience across machine learning, RAG or AI architecture. The business is looking for an experienced Power Platform or Automation professional who is comfortable with prompt engineering, curious about emerging technology and keen to build deeper AI and Copilot expertise over time.
What you’ll be doing
- Designing, developing and maintaining business process automation solutions using Microsoft Power Platform.
- Building complex cloud flows and automated processes primarily through Power Automate.
- Developing applications using Power Apps, including Canvas and potentially Model-Driven applications.
- Working with business stakeholders to understand processes, identify automation opportunities and translate requirements into effective technical solutions.
- Integrating Power Platform with other business applications using APIs, connectors and related integration technologies.
- Supporting the development of AI-enabled automation, including prompt engineering and Copilot-based solutions.
- Exploring how emerging AI technologies can improve existing processes and create new automation opportunities.
- Supporting solutions through deployment, documentation, maintenance and ongoing improvement.
- Contributing to good practice across Power Platform governance, security and application lifecycle management.
- Working with monday.com where required, including its workflows, configuration, automations and integrations.
- Collaborating with the existing Automation Engineer and wider teams across technology, data, innovation and business operations.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
