Automation Operations Manager
Are you an experienced Automation Operations leader looking to make a huge impact across a major UK infrastructure environment? We are seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking Automation Operations Manager to lead the support, maintenance, and continuous improvement of our cutting-edge automation and AI platform.
In this critical role, you will take full ownership of the operational ecosystem—ensuring the high availability, security, and resilience of our live automated workflows, RPA tools, and next-generation Power Platform CoPilot Agents. Leading an external managed-service engineering team, you will bridge technical excellence with operational strategy, driving stability, scalability, and long-term business value.
Key Responsibilities
- Managed Service Leadership: Lead, direct, and quality-assure an external partner team of Automation Operations Engineers. Oversee intake, incident triage, prioritisation, and problem resolution aligned with ITIL best practices and strict SLAs.
- Operational Excellence: Supervise the day-to-day health of all production automations, bot controllers, runbooks, orchestrations, and CoPilot Agent solutions.
- Incident & Root-Cause Management: Dive deep into telemetry, system logs, and observability tools to conduct root-cause investigations, prevent recurring failures, and boost long-term reliability.
- Release & Governance: Own operational change processes, patch management cycles, environment governance, regression testing, and rollback procedures.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Enterprise Architects, Platform Engineers, and Business SMEs to ensure operational solutions stay aligned with architectural guardrails and strategic goals.
- Continuous Improvement: Leverage operational reporting, usage analytics, and platform health dashboards to refine operational tooling and provide key insights for solution evolution or consolidation.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
