Job Description
A leading organisation responsible for delivering essential services to a large community is seeking a Automation Platform Engineer to support and evolve its enterprise automation and digital platforms. This is a pivotal role within a central automation and digital enablement function, focused on ensuring platforms are secure, stable, scalable and high-performing.
You will work across automation, AI, integration and cloud technologies, partnering with Cloud, Security, Data, Architecture and Delivery teams to enable enterprise-wide digital transformation.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain a portfolio of automation and digital platforms, including Microsoft Power Platform, ServiceNow/Blue Prism RPA, Alteryx, Copilot Studio, Logic Apps and Foundry
- Administer platform environments, capacity, licensing, RBAC, connectors and configuration.
- Implement and maintain DLP policies, identity and access controls, security standards and governance frameworks.
- Monitor platform health, connector reliability, bot controllers, workflow runs, API integrations and resource utilisation.
- Troubleshoot and resolve platform incidents, performance issues, integration failures, connector/API changes and environment degradation.
- Maintain operational runbooks, technical documentation, dashboards and performance reporting.
- Develop and optimise CI/CD pipelines, particularly using Azure DevOps, to support secure and consistent deployments.
- Support ALM, including solution packaging, version control, deployment approvals and environment management.
- Work with automation delivery teams to establish secure deployment practices and consistent development standards.
- Collaborate with Cloud Infrastructure, Security, Data Engineering, Data Science, Databricks, Integration and Architecture teams on platform enhancements and enterprise solutions.
- Support AI capabilities, including Copilot agents, RAG/graph-based retrieval, model integration and secure data connections.
- Support integration patterns using Logic Apps, APIs, webhooks, Databricks pipelines and enterprise integration technologies.
- Evaluate and onboard new platform features, connectors, AI capabilities and integrations.
- Identify opportunities to improve automation platforms, tooling, scalability and operational efficiency.
- Contribute to Centre of Excellence (CoE) standards, platform roadmaps and operational governance.

Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong hands-on experience administering Microsoft Power Platform, including environments, DLP, connectors, licensing and governance
- Experience supporting cloud-based automation, RPA or digital enablement platforms.
- Knowledge of Azure, including Logic Apps, Functions, Key Vault, Application Insights and Managed Identities.
- Experience with CI/CD, DevOps and ALM, including solution packaging and deployment pipelines.
- Understanding of identity management, RBAC, security controls, DLP and data governance.
- Experience with RPA platform operations, ideally Blue Prism or ServiceNow RPA, including controllers and bot scheduling.
- Familiarity with APIs, integration patterns and enterprise architecture.
- Understanding of data platforms such as Databricks and Data Lakehouse, with exposure to data pipelines and integrations.
- Awareness of AI and data integration concepts, including RAG, embeddings and Azure OpenAI.
- Familiarity with Copilot Studio and Alteryx.
- Understanding of data governance, including Microsoft Purview, data classification and lineage.
- Experience working in regulated environments, with an understanding of GDPR, ISO 27001 and associated security requirements.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent documentation and communication abilities.
- Comfortable working across multiple technical domains and collaborating with both technical and business stakeholders.

Desirable
- Microsoft certifications such as PL-400, PL-600, AZ-104 or AZ-204, or equivalent
- Blue Prism or ServiceNow RPA accreditation.
- Experience with Azure DevOps and/or GitHub.
- AI/ML or data engineering experience.
Additional Requirements
- Willingness to support occasional out-of-hours deployments or maintenance windows.
- Willingness to travel to sites as required.
