Automation QA Lead (Betting)
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Automation QA Lead (Betting) based in United Kingdom.
As an Automation QA Lead, you will take ownership of quality assurance strategy, processes, and automation across the software development lifecycle. You will help shape an AI-first, quality-driven engineering environment within the sports betting and lottery technology space. The role combines hands-on technical leadership with responsibility for automation frameworks, CI/CD integration, and quality metrics. You will work closely with development, product, DevOps, and operations teams to embed quality from the earliest stages of delivery. You will also champion Agile and DevOps practices, shift-left testing, and continuous improvement. In addition, you will mentor QA professionals and help establish scalable, reliable testing practices across projects.
Accountabilities
- Establish, maintain, and continuously improve QA standards, frameworks, processes, and best practices aligned with Agile and DevOps principles.
- Define and implement comprehensive automated testing strategies covering functional, integration, and performance testing.
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of robust test automation frameworks using technologies such as Selenium, Cypress, and Playwright.
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing, faster feedback, and reliable releases.
- Monitor automation coverage, effectiveness, and quality metrics, providing clear reporting and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Embed quality practices throughout Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, retrospectives, and other development activities.
- Partner with DevOps teams to ensure testing is an integral part of deployment and delivery pipelines.
- Promote shift-left testing and continuous quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Support test environments and infrastructure-as-code practices to improve scalability, reliability, and repeatability.
- Evaluate and introduce appropriate testing tools, methodologies, and automation practices across functional and manual testing activities.
- Collaborate with development, product, and operations teams to ensure quality objectives, compliance requirements, and delivery standards are consistently achieved.
- Communicate test results, automation progress, quality risks, and improvement recommendations clearly to technical and business stakeholders.
- Mentor and coach QA team members in automation, Agile, and DevOps practices while helping allocate resources and manage workloads across projects.

Requirements
- Proven experience in a QA leadership or senior QA role, with a strong focus on test automation and Agile/DevOps environments.
- Strong expertise in automation frameworks such as SpecFlow or Reqnroll.
- Strong programming and scripting skills, particularly in C#.
- Hands-on experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
- Familiarity with containerization and cloud-based testing environments, including Docker and Kubernetes.
- Solid understanding of modern QA methodologies, automation strategies, continuous integration, and shift-left testing.
- Ability to design scalable and maintainable automation frameworks and establish effective testing processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on continuous quality improvement.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, coaching, and workload management capabilities.
