This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Automation Specialist (n8n Expert) based in United Kingdom.
This is a hands-on automation role focused on building intelligent, scalable systems that streamline marketing, operations, and AI-enabled workflows.
You will design and maintain advanced n8n automations that connect business platforms, APIs, CRMs, communication tools, and AI services.
The role combines strong technical execution with strategic influence, giving you the opportunity to solve real business challenges through automation.
You will collaborate with digital and AI specialists to develop solutions for clients across different industries and use cases.
A key part of the position will be improving workflow performance, reliability, error handling, and maintainability as automation systems scale.
You will also contribute to establishing reusable technical standards, documentation, and automation capabilities for future projects.
The environment is fast-moving, innovative, and highly autonomous, making it well suited to someone who enjoys experimenting with emerging technologies and turning ideas into practical solutions.
Accountabilities
- Build, configure, and maintain advanced n8n workflows supporting lead generation, CRM processes, email systems, marketing operations, collaboration tools, and AI integrations.
- Design automation architectures using APIs, webhooks, JSON, data transformations, conditional logic, custom variables, and other n8n capabilities.
- Integrate business and marketing platforms such as HubSpot, Mailchimp, Google Sheets, Airtable, Slack, and Notion into reliable automated workflows.
- Connect AI services and APIs, including OpenAI, Claude, and similar technologies, to create intelligent automation pipelines.
- Collaborate with AI and digital teams to design and implement automation solutions for clients across multiple industries.
- Optimize workflows for performance, scalability, reliability, error handling, and long-term maintainability.
- Troubleshoot automation issues, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements to ensure workflows operate efficiently.
- Document workflow architecture, business logic, configurations, integrations, and operating procedures for internal reuse and client understanding.
- Contribute to the development and evolution of automation offerings, technical standards, and infrastructure.
- Identify opportunities to replace repetitive manual processes with efficient, scalable automation solutions.
- Support experimentation with emerging automation and AI technologies to identify practical applications for business operations.

Requirements
- Proven professional experience designing, building, and managing complex n8n workflows, using either n8n Cloud or self-hosted environments.
- Strong understanding of API integrations, REST APIs, webhooks, JSON formatting, conditional logic, data transformations, and automation architecture.
- Practical experience connecting marketing and business platforms through automation workflows, including tools such as HubSpot, Mailchimp, Google Sheets, and Airtable.
- Experience integrating AI tools and APIs such as OpenAI, ChatGPT, Claude, Google PaLM, or comparable services into automated workflows.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities, with an understanding of workflow reliability, error handling, scalability, and maintainability.
- Ability to design automation solutions that are efficient, reusable, and aligned with business objectives.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills, with the ability to explain automation concepts and workflow logic to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple projects, and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with Make.com, Zapier, or Pipedream is an advantage.
- Knowledge of Node.js or Python for developing custom automation extensions is a plus.
- 5+ years of professional work experience is preferred.
- Strong curiosity about AI, automation technologies, and emerging approaches to improving business processes.
