Automation Technician
This is an exciting opportunity for a talented automation professional who thrives on solving complex technical challenges, driving continuous improvement, and collaborating across engineering, operations, and project teams.
What You'll Be Doing
As Automation Technician, you will be responsible for the management, maintenance, and development of site automation infrastructure, ensuring the reliability and performance of key production systems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and maintaining automation hardware and software across the site.
- Monitoring and troubleshooting PLCs, SCADA systems, MCC panels, I/O systems, servers, and automation networks.
- Diagnosing faults and implementing effective solutions across automation, electrical, mechanical, and software systems.
- Developing, modifying, and upgrading PLC and control system code.
- Supporting the integration of new equipment and automation projects.
- Managing software change control processes and maintaining coding standards.
- Carrying out automation compliance checks, backups, and cybersecurity-related activities.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance and reliability.
- Working closely with engineers, operators, contractors, and system integrators to deliver robust automation solutions.
- Helping shape future automation strategy and ensuring systems remain fit for purpose as technology evolves.

Our Ideal Candidate
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across industrial automation systems.
- Ability to programme, modify, and troubleshoot PLC control systems.
- Experience working with SCADA and process control systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver solutions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on operational excellence.
- Experience implementing software upgrades, modifications, and continuous improvement projects.
- Working knowledge of industrial networks, servers, and process automation infrastructure.
- Experience collaborating across engineering and operational teams to deliver business improvements.
- Experience of working to Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality standards within a manufacturing setting.
