Automation Test Engineer
Location: Central Manchester
Salary: Up to £55,000
We're partnering with an ambitious and rapidly growing technology company based in Central Manchester that is investing heavily in quality engineering and automation. As part of their continued growth, they're looking for a skilled Automation Test Engineer to take ownership of automation strategy, framework development, and mobile testing excellence across a modern technology stack.
This is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping quality practices within a collaborative engineering environment where testing is embedded throughout the software development lifecycle. You'll work closely with developers, product teams, and stakeholders to ensure the delivery of high-quality mobile and API-driven applications.
As their Automation Test Engineer, you'll:
- Design, develop, and maintain robust test automation frameworks from scratch.
- Create and execute automated test suites for mobile applications, with a strong focus on Flutter-based products.
- Lead API testing, validation, and contract testing initiatives across multiple services.
- Define and drive mobile testing strategies, including performance, regression, and release validation.
- Collaborate closely with developers to investigate, reproduce, and resolve defects quickly and effectively.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and ensure automation is fully integrated into delivery processes.
- Continuously improve test coverage, reliability, and execution efficiency.
- Be a leader for the test team (either prior experience leading a team or ready to take the step up).

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
