Job Description
Software Test Engineer - SC Cleared
£450 per day, Inside IR35.
Hybrid/Remote. (Manchester/Newcastle)
We're seeking an Automation Test Engineer to join a high-impact programme within a public sector organisation. This contract role is ideal for someone who excels in Building and delivering comprehensive, robust, and reliable automated test frameworks and automation suites in Government or security-cleared environments.
Essential Skills
- Test Engineering best practices
- Functional and non-functional testing
- Systems integration testing
- Security testing
- Performance testing
- Development and maintenance of automated test suites
- Test Infrastructure - e.g. Docker and containerisation
- TDD and BDD principles
- Micro-service architecture and API testing principles
- CI/CD pipelines
- Java 11/17/21 and Springboot framework
- Testing frameworks such as Cucumber, REST assured, Wiremock
- SC Security Clearance for accessing production logs
- Front-end testing frameworks such as Selenium
- Accessibility testing (WCAG)

This is a contract which will be moving into 2026 and beyond on key government projects. Experience in this sector is essential, as is SC Clearance eligibility.
