Automation Test Engineer
Contract length - 12 months
Start date - ASAP
Location - mostly remote in England. Berkshire office day 1 to collect equipment
The client is a software vendor who are growing quickly. You will take ownership of driving Playwright-based automation testing across front-end screens and API layers. You will work closely with developers and product teams to ensure the quality of SaaS applications. You will operate within a close-knit team that places quality assurance at the centre of how the team work, and will play a part in embedding these practices across the wider business.

Automation Test Engineer - Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Playwright automation frameworks and test suites (TypeScript/JavaScript) covering SaaS front-end and API endpoints
- Select and apply appropriate test automation tools and patterns for Playwright
- Participate in the change control process to assess the quality implications of known defects
- Work with the DevOps team to build and maintain an automated build verification smoke test, and integrating Playwright test suites into CI/CD pipelines
- Investigate and analyse issues within test environment and report findings to the wider team

Automation Test Engineer - Requirements
- Degree-educated in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related scientific discipline, and/or an ISEB/ISTQB qualification
- 3+ years' experience leading front end automation test environments using Playwright with Typescript and JavaScript
- Experience testing SaaS applications
- Experience using Claude
- Experience with C++ testing
- Experience planning test activity and collaborating with wider technical teams
- Strong problem solver
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
