Job Description
Automation Tester
BPSS clearance to start
Must be willing to undergo SC Clearance
Start: ASAP
Duration: 6-months
Location: hybrid between London OR Leeds
Rate: up to £535 p/day (inside IR35)
Role overview
- Develop and maintain automated black-box and white-box tests.
- Build a strong technical understanding of systems under test.
- Manage automated test execution, reporting and performance testing.
- Improve test processes, efficiency and automation frameworks.
- Work with developers to reproduce and resolve defects.
- Collaborate with the wider test team and present improvement ideas.
- Define testing standards and reusable frameworks for company-wide use.

Essential Experience
- Strong problem-solving skills and a desire to resolve complex technical issues.
- Good object-oriented programming skills, ideally using Java.
- Knowledge of Ant/Maven, Git/SVN and Jenkins.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A clear commitment to software quality.
- Testing experience is not essential; software engineering experience is welcome.

Desirable skills
- Test frameworks such as TestNG, JUnit or xUnit.
- Defect and test management tools such as JIRA.
- Web automation tools such as Selenium.
- Automation and environment tools such as Puppet, Chef or Vagrant.
- Performance testing and test framework development experience.
