Introduction
IBM FutureNow is looking to hire an Automation Tester as part of its Tech Re-Entry programme for professionals returning to work after a career break of 12 months or more. We welcome candidates from a wide range of backgrounds, including individuals who have taken time away from their careers due to redundancy, caring responsibilities, further education, personal circumstances, business closure, contract completion, or challenges finding a new opportunity.
Your Role And Responsibilities
As an Automation Tester within IBM FutureNow, you will join a supportive and collaborative environment designed for professionals returning to the workplace after a career break. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks
- Execute functional, regression, integration, and API testing
- Collaborate with developers, analysts, and QA teams to improve software quality
- Support Agile delivery and CI/CD testing practices
- Document test results, defects, and quality metrics
- Contribute to continuous improvement of automation processes and testing coverage

Required Technical And Professional Expertise
Required Professional and Technical Expertise
- Understanding of software testing principles and QA methodologies
- Experience with automation testing tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or similar
- Knowledge of programming or scripting languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript, or C#
- Familiarity with Agile or DevOps environments
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to learn new technologies and work collaboratively within teams

This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). An additional range of Personal Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NVS) may apply, this could include meeting the eligibility requirements for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
Preferred Technical And Professional Experience
Preferred Professional and Technical Expertise
- Experience with API testing tools such as Postman or REST Assured
- Knowledge of CI/CD tools including Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or IBM Cloud
- Understanding of performance or security testing concepts
- Previous experience in enterprise or client-facing projects
Desirable Certifications
- ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL)
- Certified Selenium Tester Foundation (CSTF)
- AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900)
- Certified Agile Tester (CAT) or ICAgile Agile Testing Certification
