An Autocare Technician requires a unique combination of technical, retail and customer services skills. They will use a range of tools, measuring and diagnostic equipment to identify and repair simple system faults. Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

Responsibilities
- Completing general vehicle servicing
- Maintenance tasks including head gaskets
- Cambelt renewal
- MOT repairs
- Attending Skills Group one day per week for the duration of the apprenticeship
- Complying with health and safety procedures
- Preparing the vehicle and working area
- Maintaining and restoring the work area
- Storing, maintaining, and returning tools and equipment
- Accessing vehicle technical data
- Complying with environmental and sustainability procedures
- Applying vehicle safety inspection and routine maintenance procedures
- Selecting and using tools and equipment
- Removing, repairing, and replacing vehicle tyres and balancing wheel assemblies
- Inspecting, removing, and replacing parts or components in steering systems, suspension systems, braking systems, emission systems, air conditioning systems, battery and charging systems, fluid and filtration systems
- Applying state-of-health condition monitoring tests to high voltage batteries and chargers for electrified vehicles
- Applying four-wheel geometry checks and adjustments
- Applying safe working practices to isolate electrified vehicles
- Recording vehicle service maintenance, parts replacement, or repair
- Applying customer service principles and organizational customer care practices
- Providing quotations and ordering automotive parts, products, and consumables
- Applying procedures for stock and parts storage
- Applying organizational sales processes
- Applying team working principles
- Complying with equity, diversity, and inclusion guidance
- Communicating verbally with customers, suppliers, and colleagues
- Communicating in writing with internal and external customers, colleagues, and managers
- Using information and digital technology systems
- Completing and recording learning and development activities
- Applying procedures to check and replace fluids and filtration parts
