About Us
Auto-scan is a leading provider of quality assurance and inspection services to the automotive industry. With years of experience and a commitment to excellence, we partner with top automotive manufacturers to ensure the highest standards of quality and safety.
The Role
As a Fitter, you will carry out hands-on mechanical and cosmetic modifications on commercial vans and 4x4s. Daily tasks include:
- Fitting pre-drilled plywood lining
- Applying scuff protection
- Installing customer accessories such as tow bars, tie hooks, and alloy wheels
You will drive vehicles to and from the workshop compound, follow standardized build plans (TAKT times), scan vehicle IDs, and perform final Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDI) to ensure all work meets dealer specifications.
This role requires a practical, mechanically minded approach and confidence using hand and power tools like spanners, wrenches, and powered screwdrivers.
You will receive full training on all assembly processes, starting with a mandatory half-day onsite driving assessment, followed by a period working alongside an experienced technician.
You will also assist with parts restocking during line stoppages to keep production moving. If you can read build instructions, follow set workflows, and take pride in quality workmanship, this role provides steady, practical work in a structured workshop environment.

- Compulsory Overtime is required to catch back production when it cannot be achieved within the standard working hours. This is typically 1 hour per shift (Finish 16:30) but can extend up to 2 hours. Overtime requirements are communicated daily around 14:00.
- Weekend Overtime is also required on an ad hoc basis to recover shortfalls against the build plan, typically, this will be a day shift on Saturday or Sunday.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
