Automotive Learning Coach with an engineering understanding for HGV and trailers

The Role

The role is to be based on-site in Wythenshawe, Manchester where you will work with an employer's 40 learners.

Permanent Full Time Monday to Friday

Our client is one of the UK’s leading apprenticeship providers, now have an exciting opportunity for talented professionals to come and join our team in the position of Automotive Learning Coach.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Automotive Engineering Learning Coach & Tutor to support apprentices across both campus and workplace environments.

This is a varied role that combines workplace coaching, learner reviews, practical workshop support, classroom delivery, assessment and End-Point Assessment (EPA) preparation. You will manage a caseload of apprentices while supporting the delivery of high-quality automotive programmes.

Prior experience in education / teaching is required – assessor and teaching qualifications are ideal but not essential.

The apprentices will be learning heavy vehicle manufacturing and maintenance with additional engineering aspects – this will include working on trailers so knowledge base needs to cover this.

The qualifications you will be supporting and teaching the learners on are Bus and coach engineering technician and Heavy vehicle service and maintenance technician.

Do you have a teaching or assessing qualification? Do you have years of experience working within the automotive industry with hands-on practical experience of working on trailers and HGVs?

  • Managing a caseload of apprentices and carry out regular reviews, coaching sessions and workplace visits.
  • Monitoring learner progress and ensure all apprenticeship requirements are met.
  • Developing and maintaining effective relationships with employers and workplace mentors.
  • Providing assessment, marking, feedback and action planning to support learner achievement.
  • Supporting learners with Off-the-Job Training requirements and evidence collection.
  • Delivering practical automotive and engineering skills training.
  • Supporting workshop demonstrations, practical activities and classroom learning.
  • Preparing learners for End-Point Assessment (EPA), including practical observations and professional discussions.
  • Ensuring learner records and compliance documentation are maintained accurately.
  • Promoting safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion throughout all activities.

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Relevant occupational experience within Automotive, Heavy Vehicle, Bus & Coach or Engineering sectors.
  • Experience coaching, mentoring, assessing or supporting apprentices and learners.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage learner caseloads and prioritise workloads effectively.
  • Good IT Skills And Experience Using Learner Management Systems.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the North West.

Desirable

  • Teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, Level 5 DET or equivalent).
  • Assessor qualification.
  • Experience with apprenticeship delivery and EPA preparation.
  • Functional Skills Level 2 Maths and English (or willingness to achieve).
  • Experience supporting practical workshop delivery.
