The Opportunity
Barnsley College is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Automotive Lecturer to join our Engineering department.
This is an exciting opportunity to inspire the next generation of automotive technicians and engineers by delivering high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across a range of Automotive programmes.
In this role, you will teach both practical and theory-based Automotive Studies from Level 1 through to Level 3, including T Level programmes and specialist automotive courses. Working within our well-equipped engineering facilities, you will help students develop the technical skills, industry knowledge and professional behaviours required to progress into employment, apprenticeships or further study.
You will play an active role in planning and delivering engaging lessons, assessing learner progress, supporting student achievement and contributing to curriculum development. As the automotive industry continues to evolve, particularly with the growth of electric and hybrid vehicle technologies, you will help ensure our curriculum remains current, innovative and aligned to employer needs.
This role would suit an experienced automotive professional looking to move into education, or an existing lecturer who is passionate about developing skilled and work-ready learners.

Key Skills, Qualifications and Experience
Required
- Degree (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant subject.
- Level 3 qualification or above in Automotive Maintenance and Repair, or a related discipline.
- Teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed or equivalent) or willingness to work towards one.
- GCSE Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent Level 2 qualification).
- Relevant experience within the automotive industry.
- Experience delivering learning, training or coaching to a range of learners.
- Ability to motivate and inspire students to achieve their potential.
- Strong practical knowledge of automotive maintenance, repair and diagnostic procedures.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to provide clear, constructive feedback to support learner progress.
