We’re Metroline Manchester, the newest addition to the Bee Network, buzzing in Greater Manchester since January 2025! 🚍
Back in March 2024, we were thrilled to have won four franchise contracts by the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) – and just like that, we got to work bringing our services to life. We now operate over 200 routes on behalf of Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) from Hyde Road (Head Office), Tameside, Sharston and Wythenshawe depots.
But who are we, really?
Well, our roots go back to 1994 when Metroline first hit the roads of London. Fast forward to today, and we’re proud to be the second largest bus operator in the capital, running around 17% of the city’s scheduled services. Not too shabby, right?
Since 2000, we’ve been part of the global transport powerhouse ComfortDelGro, which operates in 13 countries with a fleet of over 54,000 vehicles and a team of 24,000+ colleagues worldwide.

Salary £51,331.54 - £58,247.54 DOE (£23.85- £26.80 per hour Mon- Fri, £32.36 - £37.45 per hour Sat-Sun depending on experience)
Shift work 4 over 7
As an integral member of the Metroline Manchester Engineering Team you will be reporting to the Engineering Manager and collaborating with other mechanics and engineering specialists across the business. The primary responsibility as a Shift Vehicle Technician / Mechanic is to inspect, diagnose and maintain vehicles to the highest standard to achieve maximum vehicle availability. As a Shift Vehicle Technician / Mechanic you are responsible for working in a safe manner as stated in current legislation and ELBG policies and procedures.
Main Responsibilities
- To carry out mechanical, electrical and minor body repairs. To road test on completion of repair.
- To ensure that the needs of the Operating Department are met and that enough vehicles are available to meet PVR.
- To ensure that all vehicles provided for operation comply with the standards set by the company.
- To ensure that all appropriate documentation and records are maintained accurately in order to satisfy the requirements of the Department of Transport Operators licence and company policies and procedures.
- To work in accordance with safe working practices as stated in Health and Safety policy and procedures.
- To train / mentor apprentices and new recruits.

Essential Criteria
- Knowledge and previous experience of vehicle bodywork repairs and maintenance procedures, ideally on HGV, PCV or Buses
- Ability to read and understand complex technical instructions in maintenance manuals, wiring diagrams, schematics, technical service publications
- Awareness and understanding of risk assessment, Health and Safety practices and Department of Transport standards
- An understanding of the standards required by VOSA and the Department of Transport
- Basic bus bodywork
