Job Summary
Salary: $19.91-$25.38

Performs skilled mechanical work primarily on light-duty equipment with a GVWR less than 26,000 lbs. Repairs and maintains pickups, sedans, offroad equipment, lawn mowers, golf carts, specialized field equipment, trailers, emergency vehicles, and related equipment. This position is responsible for diagnosing mechanical troubles to determine appropriate maintenance work and for repairing/overhauling heavy alternative, gasoline, and diesel-powered equipment and hydraulic components. Work is performed under general supervision. Work is reviewed while in progress and upon completion for accuracy and completeness.

- Perform installations/De-installations of specialized emergency vehicle parts: Lightbars, Emergency Lighting, Push Bumpers, Sirens, Controllers, Speakers, Partitions, Window Bars, Prisoner seats, Gun racks, Car Video, Computers, License Plate Recognition and other electronic devices related to emergency response vehicles/equipment; and possess the ability/knowledge to troubleshoot & repair malfunctions relative to emergency vehicle equipment listed above.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate and two (2) years of experience as an automotive or diesel technician, or accreditation from a vocational institute; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Valid Florida Class E Driver's License required.
- A combination of at least two (2) certifications from either ASE and/or EVT in related field desired.

This is a full-time CONTRACT position with the same benefits as Regular full-time. Most contracts are renewable for terms of one year.

If this posting indicates a degree is required, the following experience will apply in lieu of any degree as follows:
- Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
- Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
- Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or
- Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
