Autonomous Vehicle Build Technician | Reading | £40,000pa - £45,000pa plus benefits

A once in a lifetime opportunity has arisen for an Electro-Mechanical Build Technician who is passionate about building and testing robotics based autonomous vehicles. My client is a stealth robotics company based in the Reading area and they are seeing rapid scale-up, product development and investment. This amazing business is developing next generation underwater robotic vehicles which has massive potential across a range of different industry sectors, including defence, security, environmental and Sea Life monitoring.

The successful Electro-Mechanical Build Technician will play a key role in sub-assembly build, testing, and working closely with their design and hardware teams on how their prototypes can be improved. This role will also be instrumental in developing their lab and workshop space over the coming years. You will truly be able to influence and help shape this amazing device over the coming years.

If you’re passionate about robotics within the maritime industry and the autonomous vehicle and unmanned vehicle industry, you honestly need to make contact with us, this one is not to be missed. Candidates must be British Citizens or have lived in the UK for a minimum of 5 years, due to needing SC clearance.

Preferred Experience:

  • An engineering qualification, either apprenticeship, BTEC, HNC/HND level
  • Experience of working within a high tech electro-mechanical assembly role, ideally with early-stage prototypes
  • Experience of working with autonomous vehicles is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of complex mechanisms, PCB assembly, soldering, fault-finding and the tools used to component level, and wire harnessing.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with modern manufacturing techniques and processes.
