Join our technical team in Thamesmead and help set up, test and troubleshoot our portable church AV system. Support cameras, computers, audio, displays, cabling and networking so our Sunday production is ready, reliable and properly connected.
What difference will you make?
Because Royal Priesthood Pentecostal Church (UK) operates from a hired school venue, our technical team effectively installs and removes a substantial part of our production system every weekend.
This places considerable demands on the small number of people who also need to operate sound, cameras, livestreaming and presentation during the service.
A dedicated AV Setup & Technical Support Volunteer would help us prepare the system more efficiently, identify technical problems before services begin and reduce pressure on operators during live production.
Your contribution would help us
- Reduce setup time and technical delays.
- Improve the reliability of our Sunday production.
- Identify equipment or connection problems before going live.
- Keep our AV system organised and properly maintained.
- Improve cabling, labelling and setup procedures.
- Reduce pressure on our sound and media operators.
- Improve the reliability of our livestream, cameras and presentation systems.
- Develop a more professional and repeatable setup process.
- Make better use of the AV equipment already available to the church.
This role would make a significant practical difference to a church that operates a sophisticated technical setup within a temporary venue.

The ideal volunteer will have
- Relevant professional experience in AV, event production, IT support, broadcast technology, live sound, video production or a related technical field.
- Experience connecting and troubleshooting technical equipment.
- Understanding of common audio and video connections.
- Good general computer and technology skills.
- Basic understanding of signal flow.
- Confidence diagnosing connection and equipment problems.
- Experience with cameras, displays, mixers, computers, networking or livestream equipment would be useful.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work methodically when troubleshooting.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
- Willingness to assist practically with setup and pack-down.
- A genuine dedication to learning and developing further technical skills.
Applicants do not need to understand our entire system from day one.
We particularly value someone who enjoys understanding how systems work, is willing to learn our setup and can gradually become confident across different areas of our AV infrastructure.
Previous Church Experience Is Not Required.
What will you be doing?
Royal Priesthood Pentecostal Church (UK) is looking for a technically capable and dependable volunteer to support the setup, testing and troubleshooting of our portable AV and media system.
As we operate from a hired school venue, our equipment cannot remain permanently installed. Our audio, video, livestreaming and presentation systems therefore need to be connected, tested and prepared for each weekend.

The volunteer will help with
- Setting up and connecting AV and media equipment.
- Connecting and testing cameras, computers, displays and video equipment.
- Assisting with audio-system and stage connections.
- Checking cables, adapters, power and signal connections.
- Supporting the setup of our digital mixer, stage equipment and related audio systems.
- Assisting with video switcher and camera connections.
- Connecting and checking our broadcast and presentation computer systems.
- Supporting network and internet connections used for livestreaming.
- Testing equipment before services to identify problems early.
- Troubleshooting basic audio, video, computer, network and connectivity problems.
- Helping diagnose missing signals, faulty connections or equipment that is not communicating correctly.
- Keeping cables and technical equipment organised and appropriately labelled.
- Helping improve and simplify our setup procedures over time.
- Supporting the wider technical team during Sunday services when technical problems arise.
- Assisting with safe shutdown, dismantling and storage of technical equipment after services where required.
Saturday afternoon setup is an important part of this role, normally beginning from approximately 2:00–3:00 PM onwards.
Sunday attendance is also valuable for final checks, troubleshooting and technical support during services.
This is a technical-support position within an existing media and AV team. The volunteer will not be expected to operate every production system simultaneously.
