The Role
Creative Technology is looking for ambitious individuals, with a passion for technology, to join their UK team on a fixed term two-year Audio Visual Technician Level 5 degree apprenticeship programme. These successful individuals will work with integrity and passion, be self-motivated with the desire to forge an established career in the Live Events industry.
The two-year course will consist of workplace delivery (live event environment and at our warehouse facility in Crawley) learning from industry experts, utilising cutting edge technology and being part of our first-class event delivery and a minimum of 6 hours per week spent studying. The individuals will work closely with experienced Technical Professionals to understand the fundamental requirements of our equipment including Video (Mixing, Cameras, Media Servers), Audio, Display (LED, Projection, TV’s) and Networks (IT, Communications). Within each of these disciplines they will also learn the fundamentals of power, signals, cables, networking and rigging building up a complete knowledge of the equipment used in each area. The education also extends to understanding the broader aspects of delivering live events in a modern, professional environment with exposure to Project Management, Health and Safety and general Operational business components.
Modules
In order to successfully pass the course and receive a Diploma qualification, seven key modules will need to be completed:
- Module 1: Personal Project & Behaviours Logs
- Module 2: Audio
- Module 3: Video
- Module 4: Project Management
- Module 5: Video Conferencing
- Module 6: IT Systems
- Module 7: Lighting

Responsibilities
Technical event delivery:
- Experience how we provide technical support for in-house and on-site systems and services.
- Assist with troubleshooting and problem resolution, gaining knowledge in how our systems all come together.
Installation and dismantling:
- Assist in the installation and commissioning of our technical equipment across our Live Event shows.
- Participate in the dismantling and packing up of live events. Ensure equipment is properly handled, stored and accounted for.
Live show operation:
- Learning the fundamentals of operating complex systems at live shows.
- Liaise with clients and on-site crew as required.
- Gain knowledge of tasks such as racking live camera systems, operating switching systems, building and operating processors for LED walls, deploying and managing comms along with radio systems and experience how to operate the latest technology in the audio world.
Learning and growth:
- Proactively learn from Creative Technology technical team to enhance your knowledge and skills in the field.
Coursework commitment:
- Dedicate a minimum of 6 hours per week to coursework related to the Audio-Visual Level 5 Diploma programme.
- Attend two days per month at Crawley College as part of your educational requirements.
- Ensure that coursework deadlines are met and maintain a high level of academic performance, as it contributes to your overall development and success in the apprenticeship program.

Collaboration and communication:
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with the Warehouse team, Project Managers, and On-Site Engineers.
Technical knowledge development:
- Develop an understanding of equipment and systems to offer technical support effectively.
- Stay updated on industry trends and suggest refinements or improvements to offerings and systems.
Rental stock management and warehouse:
- Check in and check out all rental stock.
- Perform maintenance and testing of equipment, ensuring its proper functioning.
- Prepare systems for delivery to site.
- Understand the support with our warehouse operation.
Workspace organisation:
- Organise workspaces, including prep areas, demo/programming spaces, equipment storage.
- Maintain general tidiness in work areas.
Health and safety:
- Maintain companies culture established within the Compliance framework of ISO standards relating to Health and Safety, Quality, Sustainability and Environmental impact (ISO 45001, 9001, 20121 and 14001)
Process and procedure:
- Strictly adhere to internal processes and procedures to maintain consistency and efficiency.
Requirements
- Must be over the age of 18 years old
- A current UK or equivalent passport
- Qualifications required: English and Maths need to be a pass C or above or 4 and above
- High level of attention to detail
- Strong Interpersonal skills
- Travel required with on-site work
