Job Description

The AVEVA Application Engineer helps customers evaluate, implement, and effectively use AVEVA engineering and design solutions. This role combines technical expertise with customer engagement to support software demonstrations, solution configuration, implementation, training, and ongoing technical support.

Working closely with sales, project managers, and other technical specialists, the Application Engineer translates customer requirements into practical solutions that improve engineering productivity, data quality, and collaboration across disciplines.

Technical Sales and Solution Development

  • Lead technical discovery sessions to understand customer workflows, challenges, and business objectives.
  • Develop and deliver demonstrations, workshops, and proofs of concept tailored to customer requirements.
  • Recommend software capabilities, configurations, and implementation approaches.
  • Support proposals, statements of work, effort estimates, and technical responses.

Implementation and Configuration

  • Configure and deploy AVEVA engineering and design applications within customer environments.
  • Support project setup, engineering databases, catalogs, specifications, templates, and design standards.
  • Assist with data migration, validation, and integration with related engineering and enterprise systems.
  • Develop scripts and automation to reduce repetitive tasks and improve consistency.
  • Support testing, upgrades, troubleshooting, and customer acceptance activities.

Training and Technical Support

  • Deliver instructor-led training, workshops, and individual coaching.
  • Create training materials, technical documentation, and reusable implementation guides.
  • Diagnose application, configuration, and workflow issues and coordinate resolution with AVEVA support when needed.
  • Help customers establish effective practices and expand adoption of their software.

Customer and Team Collaboration

  • Build trusted relationships with engineering users, administrators, and customer leadership.
  • Collaborate with internal specialists to connect AVEVA solutions with broader digital engineering initiatives.
  • Communicate project progress, technical risks, and recommendations clearly.
  • Maintain current product knowledge and complete relevant training and certifications.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, chemical, electrical, civil, or another relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Three or more years of experience using, administering, or implementing AVEVA engineering and design software.
  • Hands-on experience with AVEVA E3D Design and working knowledge of related Unified Engineering applications.
  • Understanding of multidisciplinary plant or facility engineering workflows, including piping, equipment, structures, or electrical and instrumentation.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, specifications, and technical requirements.
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, presentation, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently while collaborating with a technical team.
  • Willingness to travel for customer workshops, implementations, and training.

Preferred

  • Experience with AVEVA Engineering, P&ID, Diagrams, Electrical, or Instrumentation applications.
  • Experience administering engineering databases, catalogs, specifications, and access permissions.
  • Familiarity with AVEVA PML, APIs, SQL, or other scripting and integration tools.
  • Experience with engineering data migration, document management, and PLM integration.
  • Background in nuclear, power, process industries, marine, or engineering, procurement, and construction organizations.
  • Previous experience in technical consulting, software presales, or customer training.
  • Relevant AVEVA certifications or formal product training.
