We are looking to recruit Paralegals to join our Aviation team in Liverpool. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and organised individual to work on high-volume flight delay claims, with responsibility for managing their own caseload while being supported by experienced fee earners and supervisors.

The role will focus primarily on aviation passenger claims, including claims arising from flight delays, cancellations and related consumer aviation disputes. You will be expected to take ownership of your files, progress matters efficiently, comply with court and client deadlines, and work in accordance with agreed workflows, systems and processes.

This role would suit someone who enjoys managing a busy caseload, is confident working to deadlines and targets, and is keen to develop their litigation and claims handling experience within a specialist aviation team.

Your primary role will be to manage and progress your own caseload of aviation flight delay claims, while also providing support to senior case handlers and fee earners within the team.

  • Managing your own caseload of flight delay claims, including reviewing new instructions, progressing files, recording key dates and ensuring matters are moved forward in line with agreed processes.
  • Drafting and preparing routine litigation documents, correspondence, witness evidence, reports to clients and other case-related documents, with supervision where required.
  • Reviewing claim documents, court papers, correspondence and evidence to identify key issues, deadlines, risks and next steps.
  • Ensuring court deadlines, limitation dates, client service level agreements and internal key performance indicators are met.
  • Using Atom and other internal systems to manage claims, record management information, save documents and maintain accurate file records.
  • Liaising promptly and professionally with clients, claimants, claimant representatives, courts, counsel, experts and other third parties by email and telephone.
  • Preparing cases for hearings, including collating documents, preparing bundles, assisting with instructions to Counsel and supporting fee earners with hearing preparation.
  • Attending client meetings, internal team meetings and court hearings where required, and preparing attendance notes.
  • Identifying issues requiring escalation, including default judgments, urgent court deadlines, potential fraud concerns, adverse costs risks or client service issues.
  • Supporting the team with file opening, matter allocation, case triage, billing, reporting and management information as required.
  • Assisting with the review, cleansing and updating of case data to ensure accurate reporting and effective oversight of the wider caseload.
  • Working collaboratively with supervisors, team managers and other colleagues to ensure claims are handled consistently, efficiently and in accordance with agreed workflows.
  • Achieving set financial, chargeable and operational targets.
  • Supporting the team’s wider client relationship and business development activities where required.
  • Complying with all relevant Weightmans and client policies, procedures and quality standards.
  • Working in accordance with Weightmans’ values.
