Job Description

Join ALTEN as an Avionics Systems Verification & Validation Engineer and play a pivotal role in the development, certification, and verification of electric aviation platforms. You’ll work at the intersection of systems engineering, safety, certification, and V&V verification, contributing to groundbreaking projects that are shaping the future of aviation.

This role offers hands-on involvement in requirements definition, modeling, testing, and compliance demonstration at the Component, System, and Aircraft levels. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage, and validate aircraft, system and component-level requirements, ensuring bidirectional traceability and alignment with regulatory and certification needs.
  • Apply SAE ARP4754A and ARP4761 processes to support safety assessments (FHA, FTA, FMEA) and certification planning under Part 23/27/33.
  • Author, execute, and maintain verification plans, procedures, and test reports, coordinating lab, integration, and system-level tests for systems like vibrations, airframe, fuselage, interiors, environmental control systems, and electric engines.
  • Perform system behavior modeling and support test automation and data analysis to ensure compliance with certification schedules.

Qualifications

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Software Engineering, or a related field, or relevant technical military background with equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of experience on Part 23 or 27 aircraft or rotorcraft programs.
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • SAE ARP4754A, ARP4761, FAA Order 8110.4C
    • RTCA DO-160G, DO-331, DO-178C
  • Experience with ARP4754A-based verification and requirements-based testing and traceability audits.
  • Proficiency with ALM and verification tools (Polarion, JIRA, Confluence).
  • Experience with solid modeling tools (Onshape, SolidWorks, CATIA, or equivalent).
  • Comfortable working in a cross-functional, certification-focused environment.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with Part 23 Amendment 64, ASTM F3338, Part 33 certification, or electric propulsion systems
  • Familiarity with Polarion ALM, CATIA, ANSYS, Mil-HDBK-217 / Mil-HDBK-21
  • Familiarity with reliability tools (PTC Windchill, Isograph, Relyence)
  • Test and automation experience using Python or other test automation frameworks
  • Background in aerospace verification & validation
  • Prior experience in a certifying environment (Part 23, 25, 27, 29, or DO-based programs for EASA or FAA).
