AVP – Commercial Real Estate Debt Asset Management
London | £100,000–£115,000 + bonus | 4 days office / 1 day home
An excellent opportunity for a Commercial Real Estate Debt professional to join a high-profile institutional mandate, working closely with one of the world's leading global investment banks.
This is a hands-on CRE Debt Asset Management role with responsibility for an institutional portfolio of UK and European commercial real estate loans. You will work directly with borrowers and sponsors, analyse asset and loan performance, assess waivers and amendments, monitor covenants and business plans, and support decisions throughout the life of the loan.
The position would suit someone currently working within CRE lending, real estate debt, debt asset management, portfolio management or real estate credit who wants greater responsibility, direct exposure to a major investment-bank client and the opportunity to develop into a senior member of the team.
You could currently be an AVP, Senior Associate, Asset Manager, Portfolio Manager, Lending Manager or Associate Director. Previous investment-bank experience would be highly relevant but is not essential if you have strong institutional CRE lending experience.
What you'll be doing
- Manage the ongoing performance of a portfolio of commercial real estate loans
- Maintain regular dialogue with borrowers, sponsors and other institutional stakeholders
- Review borrower requests, consents, waivers, amendments and other loan events
- Analyse property and loan performance including NOI/NCF, DSCR, debt yield, valuations and covenant compliance
- Monitor business plans, leasing, capital expenditure and development/construction activity
- Identify emerging credit risks, performance triggers and loan-specific events
- Review quarterly asset reporting and produce concise portfolio updates for senior stakeholders
- Monitor construction draws and other significant funding events
- Support decision-making across transitional, development, repositioning and stabilised assets
- Work across senior, mezzanine and other structured CRE debt positions
- Provide guidance to junior colleagues as your responsibilities develop

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Your very own career expert that helps elevate your application to the next level.
Exposure to structured CRE lending, development finance, loan workouts or metrics including IRR, NPV, DSCR, debt yield and NOI/NCF would also be advantageous, but we would not expect every applicant to have experience across all of these areas.
Why consider this opportunity?
The attraction of this role is the combination of hands-on CRE debt responsibility and direct exposure to a major global investment-bank environment.
Rather than sitting at a distance from the underlying portfolio, you will be close to the assets, borrowers and decision-making process and will develop a detailed understanding of how a leading institutional lender manages its real estate debt exposure.
The role offers:
- Direct exposure to a leading global investment bank
- A complex institutional CRE debt portfolio
- Regular borrower, sponsor and senior stakeholder interaction
- Significant responsibility for post-close loan and asset management
- Exposure to complex loan events, waivers, amendments and credit decisions
- The opportunity to develop leadership responsibility within the team
- Strong longer-term career exposure within institutional real estate debt
If you have a background in Commercial Real Estate Finance, CRE Lending, Real Estate Debt, Debt Asset Management, Portfolio Management or Real Estate Credit, we would be very interested in hearing from you.
