Job Introduction
Salary: £52,040.92 per annum with yearly increments based on performance plus £4,775.00 London Allowance
Contract Type: Permanent
Location: This role can be based at one of BTP’s main hub locations London, Birmingham, Leeds, Glasgow or Manchester. Regular travel to London will be required, as many of the Force’s key awards, recognition events and ceremonies are held there.
Type of Working Arrangement: Blended approach of home and office-working is available

The Opportunity
British Transport Police have an opportunity for an Award and Recognition Events Manager to join the Communications & Engagement Department. As an Award and Recognition Events Manager with BTP, you will provide strategic leadership for Force-wide awards, honours and recognition activity, helping to shape a culture where people feel valued and recognised for their contribution. You will act as the organisational expert on awards and recognition, ensuring robust governance, fairness and integrity across all recognition schemes, while leading the delivery of high-profile ceremonies and events on behalf of the Chief Constable. Through your expertise and influence, you will help protect and enhance BTP's reputation whilst driving continuous improvement in recognition practices across the Force.
What You'll Be Doing
- Developing, implementing and continuously evolving BTP's Force-wide Awards and Recognition Strategy, ensuring recognition activity aligns with organisational priorities and values.
- Acting as the organisational lead and subject matter expert for awards, honours and recognition schemes, providing authoritative advice and assurance to senior leaders and stakeholders across the Force.
- Leading the planning and delivery of high-profile awards ceremonies and corporate events, including commendation ceremonies, long service awards and representation at national recognition events.
- Ensuring robust governance, transparency and consistency across awards processes, managing reputational risk and promoting a culture of recognition through influencing senior leaders and decision-makers.

What You'll Bring To The Team
- Degree-level qualification (or equivalent professional qualification) together with substantial executive-level administration and management experience gained within a large, complex organisation.
- Proven experience of influencing and engaging senior stakeholders, shaping outcomes through expert advice rather than formal authority.
- Significant experience managing complex, sensitive or high-profile activities, with the judgement to balance organisational priorities and reputational considerations.
- Strong events management experience, including coordinating large-scale events, stakeholders, logistics, budgets and external partners, alongside exceptional communication and relationship-building skills.
