About The Role
The AWS Architect position at Richmond Square Consulting Ltd offers a unique opportunity for an experienced cloud professional to lead the design and implementation of highly secure and complex AWS environments. This role involves working on mission-critical projects that support sensitive workloads in high-security settings, including defense and government sectors. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of AWS architecture, security principles, and large-scale cloud deployment strategies. They will serve as a technical leader, engaging with clients and internal teams to shape cloud strategies, ensure best practices, and deliver innovative solutions that meet stringent security standards. The role offers significant autonomy, allowing the architect to influence technical decisions and contribute to the company's growth in the national security domain.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a strong background in cloud architecture with proven experience designing and deploying large-scale AWS environments. Essential qualifications include AWS certifications at the Associate level or higher, with additional certifications in security or architecture being advantageous. Candidates must demonstrate extensive experience working within high-security, regulated environments such as defense, government, or similar sectors. A solid understanding of AWS security architecture, cloud security principles, and infrastructure as code is required. The role also necessitates excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Current Enhanced Developed Vetting (eDV) clearance is mandatory, with consideration given to candidates holding DV clearance willing to undergo eDV processing.

Responsibilities
- Design and deliver secure AWS cloud environments that support mission-critical and highly sensitive workloads, ensuring compliance with security standards and best practices.
- Lead architectural discussions, technical workshops, and design exercises to develop robust cloud solutions aligned with client requirements.
- Engage in both greenfield and brownfield cloud initiatives, providing expert guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support and lead large-scale AWS implementations, migrations, and integrations, ensuring smooth transition and minimal disruption.
- Translate customer needs and operational requirements into pragmatic, scalable technical solutions.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, security, and operational teams to ensure cohesive and secure cloud architectures.
- Review and challenge existing security approaches and architectural decisions to optimize security posture and efficiency.
- Assist clients in shaping technical roadmaps and making informed engineering trade-offs to meet strategic goals.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with senior technical and operational stakeholders to facilitate effective communication and project success.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship across complex cloud programs, fostering best practices and continuous improvement.
