AWS Cloud Engineer

Type: Contract | 8/10/2026 - 12/31/2026

Day Rate: To discuss

Location: London | Hybrid (3 days on site)

MUST HAVE SC - SECURITY CLEARANCE!

We are seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Engineer Contractor to support the design, implementation, migration, and ongoing management of cloud-based solutions on Amazon Web Services (AWS).

The successful candidate will work closely with architects, developers, DevOps engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, resilient, and cost-effective cloud solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, configure, and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure.
  • Support cloud migration and modernisation initiatives, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar tools.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support automated deployments and release management.
  • Monitor cloud environments and proactively identify performance, availability, and security issues.
  • Implement and maintain security controls, access management, and compliance requirements across AWS environments.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure, networking, and application-related issues.
  • Collaborate with development and architecture teams to ensure cloud solutions align with business and technical requirements.
  • Optimise cloud performance, resilience, and cost management.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and support guides.

Experience & Skills

  • Proven experience designing and supporting solutions on AWS.
  • Strong knowledge of core AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, CloudWatch, IAM, Route 53, and ECS/EKS.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar).
  • Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab.
  • Strong understanding of cloud networking, DNS, load balancing, and security principles.
  • Experience with Linux administration and scripting using Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
  • Experience supporting production environments and troubleshooting complex technical issues.
  • Knowledge of security, governance, and cloud best practices.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Git Version Control.
  • Monitoring and Logging Tools.

(Desirable)

  • AWS certification (Associate or Professional level).
  • Experience in large-scale cloud migration programmes.
  • Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
  • Exposure to DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.
  • Experience with security frameworks and compliance standards.
  • Consulting or client-facing delivery experience.
