About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced Cloud Engineer to join our talented team and play a key role in the evolution of our cloud architecture. This is an exciting opportunity to work on the development, modernisation and optimisation of high-performance systems, designing and implementing robust, scalable solutions within our AWS-based infrastructure.
You'll contribute to the design and delivery of cloud-native applications that process large volumes of real-time telematics data, ensuring solutions are secure, resilient and built to the highest engineering standards. Working alongside software engineers, data engineers, DevOps and product teams, you'll help shape technical solutions that support both current and future business needs.
We're looking for someone who takes pride in writing clean, maintainable code, has a strong focus on system reliability and performance, and enjoys collaborating to solve complex technical challenges. If you're passionate about AWS technologies and want to make a real impact, we'd love to hear from you.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Location: This is a hybrid role – two office days per week (Tuesdays and Wednesdays) based at our Exeter office.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain scalable, real-time telematics applications using Python.
- Optimise applications for low latency and high throughput to efficiently process large-scale vehicle data.
- Develop cloud-native solutions using AWS services including EC2, S3, Lambda, ECS, SQS and Amazon Aurora.
- Build and deploy containerised applications using Docker and Kubernetes, implementing serverless architectures where appropriate.
- Apply best practices for secure data transmission and storage, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Monitor application health and performance using AWS CloudWatch, X-Ray and other monitoring tools, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
- Collaborate with data engineers, DevOps and product teams to deliver solutions that meet business and customer requirements.
- Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions and Agile ceremonies to promote engineering excellence and continuous improvement.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
