Security Cleared AWS Data Engineer

Salary: £70,000 - £85,000
Location: Hybrid in Manchester or London, 2-3 days per month

About the Role

We are partnering with a leading technology consultancy delivering complex cloud, data and digital transformation programmes across both public and private sector environments. Due to continued growth, we are seeking Security Cleared AWS Data Engineers across multiple levels to design, build and maintain scalable cloud-based data platforms and pipelines.

This role offers the opportunity to work on high-profile projects using modern AWS technologies, helping clients unlock value from their data through robust, secure and highly available solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain data pipelines using Python, SQL and workflow orchestration tools.
  • Build and deploy containerised data solutions using Docker.
  • Develop, optimise and support AWS-based data platforms and services.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, analysts and stakeholders to deliver scalable data solutions.
  • Implement automation, monitoring and operational best practices.
  • Manage source control and CI/CD processes within collaborative development environments.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve performance, reliability and data quality issues.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with security, governance and data management standards.

Required Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Strong Python development skills.
  • Excellent SQL knowledge and experience working with large datasets.
  • Experience with workflow orchestration platforms such as Apache Airflow.
  • Hands-on experience with Docker and containerised workloads.
  • Strong knowledge of AWS data and analytics services, including:
    • Amazon Redshift
    • AWS Lambda
    • AWS Glue
    • AWS Step Functions
    • AWS Batch
    • Amazon OpenSearch
  • Experience with Git and modern version control practices.
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation.
  • Understanding of cloud security principles, identity and access management, and role-based access controls.
  • Active Security Clearance or eligibility to work within secure environments.

Desirable

  • Experience with additional AWS services such as Athena, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, SQS or EMR.
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Experience maintaining technical documentation and knowledge repositories.
  • Background working within consulting, managed services or customer-facing environments.
