Job Title
Luxoft is supporting a major cloud transformation programme for one of the world's leading financial market infrastructure organisations and is looking for an experienced AWS Data Engineer to join a high-profile strategic data migration initiative. This role sits within the mobilisation phase of a large-scale programme to modernise and migrate a complex enterprise ETL estate from Matillion to AWS Glue. You'll work alongside architects, engineers, and business stakeholders to help define, build, and validate the next generation of data platforms that will support critical business functions across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines on AWS
- Migrate existing data processing workloads from legacy and on-premise platforms to AWS
- Develop and optimise data models across data warehouse and data lake environments
- Build and orchestrate workflows using AWS Glue, Step Functions, Lambda, and EMR
- Implement data quality, validation, reconciliation, and monitoring frameworks
- Optimise performance, scalability, and cloud costs across the data platform
- Ensure security, governance, and access controls are implemented in line with enterprise standards
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and support production data pipelines
- Collaborate closely with architects, business analysts, and BI teams to deliver data solutions
- Produce technical documentation, operational procedures, and support runbooks

Essential Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS services including Glue, EMR, Lambda, and Step Functions
- Advanced SQL skills and data warehousing experience, including Redshift and dimensional modelling
- Strong development experience using Python and/or Scala
- Experience building and managing S3-based data lake architectures
- Proven track record delivering data migration projects from on-premise or cloud platforms
- Strong understanding of AWS security, governance, IAM, encryption, and access control models
- Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices for data engineering

Nice to Have
- AWS Data Engineer Associate or AWS Data Analytics Specialty certification
- Experience with Kinesis, Kafka, or other real-time streaming technologies
- Knowledge of Terraform or CloudFormation
- Experience with Airflow, dbt, or similar orchestration tools
- Financial services or capital markets experience
