AgileSource are seeking multiple SC Cleared, AWS Data Engineers. We are seeking an experienced AWS Data Engineers to design, build and deliver scalable, secure and high-performing data solutions within AWS.
Mid Level & Senior Data Engineers considered
This is a hands-on engineering role that combines deep technical expertise with solution leadership, stakeholder engagement and mentoring responsibilities. You will play a key role in shaping modern data platforms, influencing engineering standards and helping organisations maximise the value of their data.
The Role
As a AWS Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing cloud-native data platforms that support analytics, operational reporting, AI and data-driven decision making. You will collaborate with architects, cloud engineers, DevOps specialists and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into robust, secure and maintainable solutions. Alongside technical delivery, you will help drive best practices, support technical governance and contribute to the development of engineering capability across teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of AWS-based data platforms and services
- Build and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines that process data from multiple source systems
- Design and implement solutions using AWS technologies including S3, Glue, Lambda, Athena, Redshift, EMR and EventBridge
- Develop data lake, warehouse and lakehouse architectures to support business and analytical requirements
- Build reusable data engineering components and frameworks using Python and SQL
- Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and automated deployment pipelines
- Embed monitoring, alerting, observability and data quality controls into solutions
- Ensure security, governance and compliance requirements are incorporated throughout platform design and delivery
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to align data solutions with wider enterprise architecture
- Engage with stakeholders to capture requirements, provide technical guidance and recommend appropriate solutions
- Investigate and resolve complex data, integration and performance issues
- Promote engineering best practices, coding standards and automation-first principles
- Mentor and support engineers through knowledge sharing, peer reviews and technical coaching

Required Experience
- Extensive experience delivering data engineering solutions within enterprise environments
- Strong hands-on experience designing and implementing AWS data platforms
- Deep understanding of AWS services including S3, Glue, Lambda, Athena, Redshift and EMR
- Strong Python and SQL development skills
- Experience designing and building large-scale ETL/ELT pipelines and data processing frameworks
- Strong understanding of data modelling, data lakes, data warehouses and modern data platform architectures
- Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code, ideally with Terraform
- Experience developing CI/CD pipelines and automated testing approaches
- Strong understanding of data governance, security, access management and data quality principles
- Experience leading technical solution delivery and influencing engineering decisions
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience coaching and mentoring engineers within delivery teams

Desirable Skills
- AWS Associate or Professional certifications
- Experience with real-time data processing and streaming architectures
- Knowledge of Spark, Kafka, Databricks or similar big data technologies
- Experience delivering solutions within regulated or security-conscious environments
- Familiarity with cloud security and assurance frameworks
- Exposure to machine learning, AI or advanced analytics platforms
- Experience working across hybrid or multi-cloud environments
