Job Description
Purpose of the Role
To design, develop, and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.
Accountabilities
- Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support efficient and repeatable software delivery.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using industry-standard tooling and frameworks.
- Automate manual operational processes to improve consistency, quality, and speed of delivery.
- Design, deploy, and maintain cloud infrastructure, within AWS and hybrid environments.
- Ensure platforms are secure, highly available, scalable, and cost-efficient.
- Develop platform standards, reusable components, and self-service capabilities.

- Consult on complex issues; providing advice to People Leaders to support the resolution of escalated issues.
- Identify ways to mitigate risk and developing new policies/procedures in support of the control and governance agenda.

We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer
We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to add to our Data and Analytics team to aid in the transition to a DevOps model of operation. You would be a strong culture-carrier, responsible as part of a team for designing, implementing, and supporting secure, scalable, and resilient cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and observability capabilities. The role provides technical leadership across engineering teams, driving DevOps best practices, enhancing software delivery performance, and embedding security, reliability, monitoring, and operational excellence throughout the software development lifecycle.

To be Successful in this role you will need:
- Experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Platform Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering.
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS cloud services, including EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, Route 53, and networking services.
- Expertise in Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar tooling.
Some other highly valued skills may include:
- Strong experience with monitoring, observability, logging, and alerting platforms.
- Experience defining operational metrics, SLOs, SLIs, and service health reporting.
- Knowledge of resilience engineering, chaos testing, and reliability engineering practices.
- Hands-on experience with distributed tracing and application performance monitoring (APM).
You may be assessed on key skills that support success in this role, such as risk and governance methodologies, strategic thinking, and best practices for standard technology control processes, alongside role-specific technical skills.
This role is based out of our Glasgow office.
