About The Role

The AWS DevOps Engineer role at 83zero Ltd offers an exciting opportunity for experienced professionals to contribute to mission-critical cloud platforms. In this position, you will be instrumental in designing, deploying, and maintaining secure and scalable AWS cloud environments. The role involves working closely with cross-functional teams, including architects, developers, and stakeholders, to implement modern DevOps practices, automate infrastructure, and enhance operational efficiency. This is a hands-on engineering position that requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, a deep understanding of cloud-native technologies, and a commitment to security best practices. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on complex projects that modernize and optimize cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability and security compliance.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, candidates should possess a strong technical background with proven hands-on experience in AWS cloud environments, particularly within secure or regulated settings. Essential qualifications include expertise in Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi. Candidates should have practical experience with CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitLab CI, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or ArgoCD. Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes is required. Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell are essential for automation tasks. A comprehensive understanding of AWS networking components, including VPCs, subnets, routing, load balancers, and security groups, is necessary. Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, or CloudWatch is also important. Candidates must demonstrate knowledge of cloud security principles, particularly Zero Trust architecture, and possess excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities. Additionally, experience working within Agile delivery environments is highly desirable. Active SC clearance is mandatory, and candidates based in Bristol must hold active DV clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and manage secure AWS cloud infrastructure to meet organizational requirements.
  • Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi to ensure repeatability and consistency.
  • Develop, test, and optimize CI/CD pipelines to facilitate automated and reliable software delivery processes.
  • Implement comprehensive monitoring, logging, and observability solutions to ensure system health and performance.
  • Automate routine infrastructure and operational tasks through scripting to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
  • Collaborate with Agile teams, architects, and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver scalable solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues within cloud environments, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
  • Continuously evaluate emerging cloud-native and DevOps technologies, recommending improvements and innovations.
  • Implement cloud security best practices, including Zero Trust principles, to safeguard organizational assets.
  • Maintain documentation of cloud architecture, processes, and security protocols for compliance and knowledge sharing.
