The Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join our growing team on a permanent or 12-month fixed-term contract basis. This is a remote-first, UK-based role, with occasional travel to London, likely around twice a month.
You will play a key role in designing, building and maintaining secure, scalable cloud infrastructure and DevOps solutions, working closely with architects, developers and security teams within a Central Government environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, build and maintain secure, scalable AWS cloud infrastructure
- Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code, primarily using Terraform
- Deploy and manage containerised applications using Docker and Kubernetes/EKS
- Build, maintain and optimise CI/CD pipelines
- Monitor, troubleshoot and improve the reliability and performance of cloud infrastructure
- Apply appropriate security controls and engineering best practices within highly regulated environments
- Collaborate with architects, developers and security specialists to deliver technical solutions
- Contribute to technical decision-making, engineering standards and continuous improvement
- Take ownership of technical solutions and support the development of robust, maintainable engineering practices
Essential Requirements
- Active SC Clearance – mandatory
- Proven experience delivering technology solutions within UK Central Government
- Strong hands-on experience as a DevOps Engineer, working across cloud infrastructure and automation
- Strong experience with AWS, including services such as EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, IAM, VPC and CloudWatch
- Strong Terraform / Infrastructure as Code experience
- Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes, ideally AWS EKS
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, using tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or Jenkins
- Strong understanding of DevOps principles and secure cloud engineering
- Experience working within Agile, multi-disciplinary teams
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to take ownership of technical solutions
