AWS DevOps Engineer - SC Clearance is a plus, eligibility is a must have

Location: Fully remote from the UK

Type: Freelance

The Role:

We’re looking for an experienced AWS DevOps Engineer to design, automate and maintain secure, scalable cloud infrastructure and CI/CD environments. You’ll work across AWS, Infrastructure as Code, automation, networking and observability, helping to improve the reliability, performance and efficiency of enterprise cloud platforms.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, provision and manage AWS infrastructure using Terraform and Terragrunt
  • Develop automation and configuration management solutions with Ansible
  • Build, maintain and optimise Jenkins CI/CD pipelines
  • Manage GitLab/GitHub repositories, branching strategies and CI/CD integrations
  • Deploy and support AWS services including ECS, EC2, RDS, API Gateway, ELB and ACM
  • Manage multi-account AWS environments using AWS Organizations, with a focus on governance and security
  • Design and maintain AWS networking, including VPCs, Transit Gateway, routing and connectivity
  • Implement and manage AWS WAF policies and rules
  • Monitor infrastructure and application performance using LogicMonitor or equivalent tools
  • Support incident, request and change management through ServiceNow
  • Troubleshoot complex production issues and conduct root-cause analysis
  • Work closely with Development, Security and Operations teams to deliver reliable and secure cloud solutions

What You’ll Bring

  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS and Terraform; Terragrunt highly desirable
  • Proven experience with Ansible and Jenkins
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD and GitLab/GitHub workflows
  • Practical experience with ECS, EC2, RDS, API Gateway, ELB and ACM
  • Experience managing AWS Organizations and multi-account environments
  • Strong knowledge of AWS networking, VPCs, Transit Gateway and routing
  • Python and/or Bash scripting experience is a plus
  • Exposure to Kubernetes/EKS is advantageous
