About The Role
We are seeking an experienced hands-on AWS DevOps Engineer to join the LCST Programme team at Leidos. In this role, you will be a vital part of a high-performing Agile team responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable cloud infrastructure. Your expertise will drive automation, continuous integration, and delivery processes using AWS services and Infrastructure as Code (IaC). You will work within a tailored SAFe Agile SecDevOps Scrum framework, applying best practices in cloud-native design, security, and operational efficiency.
This position involves hands-on work with automated testing, deployment pipelines, and infrastructure monitoring. You will participate actively in Agile ceremonies, risk mitigation activities, and collaborative solution design sessions. The role requires cross-functional flexibility, with the ability to work across systems engineering, software development, testing, and security domains. Your proactive approach and problem-solving skills will be essential in ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of cloud solutions supporting critical national programs.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess a combination of technical expertise, relevant certifications, and practical experience. Proven experience managing cloud infrastructure, automation scripting, and implementing DevOps best practices is essential. Candidates should have hands-on experience with AWS cloud services, IaC tools like Terraform and Ansible, and CI/CD pipeline automation. Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell, along with familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools, are highly desirable. A background in security best practices, monitoring, and incident response will be advantageous. Candidates must demonstrate excellent communication skills, the ability to work in Agile environments, and a proactive mindset geared toward continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
- Manage source code repositories using GIT, including pull requests, branching strategies, and collaborative workflows.
- Design, implement, and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure, including EC2, ECR, ECS, EKS, VPC, RDS, Load Balancers, Lambda, IAM, Route 53, and related services.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and Ansible to ensure secure, scalable, and repeatable environments.
- Create and optimize CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or similar tools to automate build, test, and deployment processes.
- Write automation scripts using Bash, Python, or PowerShell to streamline operational workflows and reduce manual intervention.
- Implement containerization solutions with Docker and orchestrate deployments using Kubernetes or ECS/EKS.
- Manage secrets and access controls securely using Vault, IAM policies, and other security tools.
- Apply AWS security best practices, including encryption, patch management, and compliance adherence.
- Develop backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
- Implement monitoring and logging solutions such as CloudWatch to ensure system reliability and enable proactive incident management.
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, translating business requirements into technical solutions and ensuring timely delivery.
- Design scalable and resilient cloud-native architectures that meet performance and availability targets.
- Troubleshoot complex issues, perform root cause analysis, and develop mitigation strategies.
- Configure routing, traffic management, and load balancing solutions, including NGINX and AWS-native tools.
- Manage release and change processes, including deployment governance, rollback procedures, and version control.
- Support platform-wide integrations, including Java application environments and deployment considerations.
- Identify opportunities for process and infrastructure improvements, fostering a culture of continuous enhancement.
- Design and manage SNS topics for event-driven workflows, integrating notifications with Lambda and external systems.
- Utilize Atlassian tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket for project management, documentation, and CI/CD pipeline support.
- Support identity and access management using Active Directory, ADFS, and cloud authentication services.
