About The Role
We are seeking an experienced hands-on AWS DevOps Engineer to join the LCST Programme team at Leidos. In this role, you will be an integral part of a high-performing Agile team responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting secure, scalable cloud infrastructure. Your expertise will be pivotal in applying DevOps best practices, leveraging AWS services, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) methodologies to automate deployment pipelines and ensure continuous delivery across multiple environments. The role requires a proactive individual capable of working collaboratively within an Agile framework, participating in ceremonies, risk mitigation activities, and solution design discussions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; relevant certifications are highly desirable.
- Proven experience in managing cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS, with a strong understanding of services like EC2, RDS, ECS, Lambda, VPC, IAM, and Load Balancers.
- Hands-on expertise with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and configuration management tools like Ansible.
- Experience in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or similar tools.
- Strong scripting skills in Bash, Python, PowerShell, or equivalent languages.
- Knowledge of containerization technologies including Docker and orchestration practices.
- Understanding of security best practices, secrets management, and compliance requirements within cloud environments.
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as CloudWatch, along with incident response strategies.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within Agile teams.
- Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional or equivalent are preferred.

Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure solutions on AWS, ensuring security, scalability, and resilience.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) scripts using Terraform and Ansible to automate provisioning and configuration tasks.
- Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines to automate application testing, deployment, and release processes.
- Manage source code repositories, including branching strategies and pull request workflows using GIT.
- Automate operational tasks through scripting and develop tools to improve system efficiency.
- Implement containerization solutions using Docker and orchestrate deployments with best practices.
- Ensure security and compliance by managing access controls, secrets, and encryption standards.
- Configure and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to ensure system health and rapid incident response.
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, contributing to sprint planning, retrospectives, and collaborative solution design.
- Support backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity initiatives to safeguard data and system availability.
- Troubleshoot infrastructure and application issues, diagnosing root causes and implementing effective solutions.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams including systems engineering, software development, security, and testing to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Stay current with emerging cloud technologies and DevOps practices, recommending improvements to existing processes.
