About The Role
We are collaborating with Leidos to identify a highly skilled AWS DevOps Engineer to join their LCST Programme team. This role demands a hands-on professional capable of designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable cloud infrastructure within an Agile environment. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop automated solutions, optimize deployment pipelines, and ensure system reliability and security. As part of a high-performing team operating under a tailored SAFe Agile SecDevOps Scrum process, you will leverage AWS services, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and automation tools to support continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) initiatives. Your expertise will contribute to building resilient cloud-native solutions that meet stringent security and compliance standards, supporting Leidos’ mission to deliver innovative technology solutions to its clients.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a combination of technical expertise, industry certifications, and practical experience, including:
- Proven experience in managing source code repositories with GIT, including branching strategies and collaborative workflows
- Strong proficiency in designing and managing AWS cloud infrastructure, with hands-on experience with services like EC2, ECR, ECS, EKS, VPC, RDS, Load Balancers, Lambda, IAM, Route 53, and related tools
- Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and configuration management tools such as Ansible
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or similar tools
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, and PowerShell to automate operational tasks
- Knowledge of containerization technologies including Docker, and orchestration best practices
- Understanding of secrets management solutions like Vault and IAM policies for secure credential handling
- Strong understanding of AWS security best practices, including encryption, patch management, monitoring, and compliance
- Experience implementing backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies
- Ability to design and implement robust monitoring and logging solutions utilizing CloudWatch and other tools
- Experience working within Agile development teams, translating requirements into technical solutions, and participating in Agile ceremonies
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose complex issues and implement effective solutions
- Familiarity with traffic management, load balancing, and routing configurations using NGINX and AWS-native tools
- Experience with structured release management, change control, and deployment governance
- Knowledge of Java application deployment environments is a plus
- Proactive mindset with continuous improvement focus, seeking opportunities to optimize delivery pipelines and infrastructure
- Experience designing event-driven architectures using SNS, Lambda, and other notification services
- Proficiency in using Atlassian tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket for project management and collaboration
- Working knowledge of Active Directory and ADFS, including SSO and cloud authentication integration

Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud infrastructure on AWS, ensuring high availability and performance
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and Ansible to automate provisioning and configuration management
- Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines to facilitate automated testing, integration, and deployment of applications
- Manage source code repositories, branching strategies, and collaborative workflows to support agile development practices
- Create and maintain scripts using Bash, Python, and PowerShell to automate operational tasks and improve efficiency
- Implement containerization solutions with Docker and orchestrate deployments using best practices for scalability and resilience
- Ensure security by managing IAM policies, secrets, and access controls, adhering to AWS security standards and policies
- Design and implement backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies to protect data and ensure system availability
- Set up and manage monitoring and logging solutions such as CloudWatch, to proactively identify and resolve issues
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives, translating business needs into technical solutions
- Troubleshoot complex system issues, identify root causes, and implement mitigation strategies effectively
- Configure load balancing and traffic management solutions to optimize system performance and reliability
- Manage release and change processes, including deployment governance, rollback procedures, and version control
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support platform-wide integrations, including Java environments if applicable
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve infrastructure, automation, and delivery pipelines for enhanced efficiency and quality
