About The Role
We are supporting a leading technology consultancy in their search for an experienced AWS DevOps Technical Consultant. This role offers a unique opportunity to be part of a fast-paced Agile delivery team focused on designing and building secure, scalable AWS infrastructure for high-profile UK Government and Defence projects. The successful candidate will take on a hands-on technical leadership position, primarily responsible for developing new infrastructure solutions, automating deployment processes, and creating shared platform services that enhance operational efficiency and security.
The role involves working closely with stakeholders to understand project requirements, advising on AWS architecture and technology choices, and leading the implementation of cloud infrastructure that aligns with best security practices. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a passion for cloud engineering, automation, and infrastructure development who enjoys taking ownership of complex technical solutions and mentoring junior team members.

Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess strong commercial experience with AWS cloud services, including designing and deploying cloud infrastructure from scratch. Hands-on expertise with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform is essential, along with a solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines, automation, and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes. Candidates should have a good grasp of AWS security principles and secure deployment practices to ensure compliance with security standards. Experience working within Agile teams, leading technical solutions, and managing stakeholder relationships is highly desirable. Additionally, mentoring or supporting other engineers is considered a valuable asset.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and manage secure AWS cloud infrastructure tailored to project needs.
- Create and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines to streamline software deployment processes.
- Develop reusable Infrastructure as Code solutions using tools such as Terraform to ensure scalable and maintainable infrastructure.
- Build and operate platforms for containerized applications, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Support software deployment, monitor operational performance, and troubleshoot issues proactively.
- Lead the technical delivery throughout the full project lifecycle, ensuring timely and quality outputs.
- Advise customers on AWS architecture, best practices, and technology choices to optimize their cloud environment.
- Manage relationships with senior stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment on project goals.
- Mentor engineers and support junior team members in their technical development.
- Promote Agile best practices, including Scrum and Kanban, to enhance team productivity and collaboration.
