About The Role
We are seeking an experienced AWS DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, deploying, and managing secure and scalable cloud infrastructure on AWS. Your expertise will enable organizations to modernize their technology estates through automation, Infrastructure as Code, and advanced DevOps practices. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on mission-critical environments, solving complex infrastructure challenges and implementing best practices for cloud security and efficiency. As a hands-on engineer, you will collaborate closely with architects, stakeholders, and fellow engineers to enhance cloud platforms and streamline operational processes.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background with practical experience in cloud infrastructure and DevOps methodologies. Candidates must have an active SC clearance, with those based in Bristol holding active DV clearance. A UK nationality is required for security clearance purposes. Essential qualifications include demonstrable experience with AWS cloud services, Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi, and CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitLab CI, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions. Proficiency in containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, along with scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell, is necessary. A solid understanding of AWS networking components, monitoring and logging tools, and cloud security principles, including Zero Trust, is also required. Candidates should exhibit strong troubleshooting skills, experience working within Agile environments, and a proactive approach to adopting emerging cloud-native and DevOps technologies.

Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain secure and scalable AWS cloud infrastructure tailored to client requirements.
- Create and manage Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi to automate infrastructure deployment and updates.
- Develop, test, and optimize CI/CD pipelines to facilitate continuous integration and continuous delivery of applications and services.
- Implement comprehensive monitoring, logging, and observability solutions to ensure high availability and performance of cloud environments.
- Automate operational tasks and infrastructure management through scripting to improve efficiency and reduce manual interventions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including architects and stakeholders, to align cloud solutions with business objectives.
- Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and deployment issues, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
- Apply cloud security best practices, including Zero Trust architecture, to safeguard cloud environments and data.
- Evaluate new cloud-native and DevOps tools and technologies, recommending adoption where appropriate to enhance capabilities.
- Participate in Agile development cycles, contributing to sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives to ensure timely delivery of projects.
